In medicine 

Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin can solve the problem of water solubility of insoluble or insoluble drugs (including plant extracts).

Through molecular encapsulation, it improves drug biosolubility and controls drug release rate, increases drug bioavailability, enhances drug stability and reduces drug toxic side effects. After encapsulation by cyclodextrin, it can increase the stability of drugs to light, reduce volatility, prolong the efficacy and reduce the contact toxicity to human and animals, such as pyrethroids, DDVP, organophosphorus and other encapsulation compounds have the above characteristics.

In the food industry 

Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin can improve the stability and longevity of nutritional molecules, can mask or correct the bad odour and taste of nutritional molecules in food, can improve the production process and product quality, and increase the shelf life of products. Cyclodextrins are used in the food industry as retention agents for spices, colours, preservative substances, stabilisers for flavourings, emulsifying foaming agents, etc.
